One Day in Sunset Town Phu Quoc: The Perfect 1-Day Itinerary
Only have one day to explore Sunset Town, Phu Quoc? You can experience the Hon Thom Cable Car, Aquatopia Water Park, the famous Kiss Bridge, sunset, dinner and Sunset Town's evening entertainment — all in one well-planned day.
The secret is getting the timing right.
The Hon Thom Cable Car does not operate continuously throughout the entire day, while Sunset Town itself really comes alive from late afternoon into the evening. Current travel guides similarly recommend combining the cable car and Hon Thom during the day before returning to Sunset Town for sunset and its nighttime attractions.
Here is my recommended one-day Sunset Town and Hon Thom itinerary.
8:30 AM — Arrive at Sunset Town
Start early and give yourself some time to explore Sunset Town before boarding the cable car.
One of the most photogenic areas in southern Phu Quoc, Sunset Town was designed with Mediterranean-inspired architecture, colourful buildings, plazas and pedestrian streets overlooking the sea.
Morning is actually a great time to wander around because the town is generally quieter than it is around sunset.
Grab a coffee, walk through the colourful streets and make your way toward the cable-car station.
Allow: 30–60 minutes.
Tip: If you are flying out on the same day, and not staying in Sunset Town, you can request to store your luggage at Oasis Spa before heading off to Sun World Hon Thom.
9:30 AM — Take the Hon Thom Cable Car
Next, head to Hon Thom Departure Terminal - Sun World Hon Thom Nature Park.
The Hon Thom Cable Car is one of the signature experiences of southern Phu Quoc. The route stretches for nearly 8 kilometres over the sea, with the journey taking approximately 15 minutes.
And the cable-car ride isn't simply transportation.
It's one of the highlights of the day.
As the gondola climbs away from Sunset Town, you'll get spectacular aerial views over the An Thoi Archipelago, fishing boats, islands and turquoise water.
Tip: Try to get a position beside the window before departure — you'll definitely want your camera ready.
Alternative: If you miss the morning cable-car departure and have to wait for the next operating session at 1:30PM, use the break to stroll around Sunset Town, enjoy the cafes, or go for a 60–90 minute massage at Oasis Spa instead of sitting around waiting.
10:00 AM–3:30 PM — Spend the Day at Sun World Hon Thom
Once you arrive on Hon Thom Island, you have several hours to enjoy Sun World.
One of the main attractions is Aquatopia Water Park, where you'll find water slides, pools and attractions for both adults and children. Current guides recommend allocating several hours to Aquatopia rather than trying to rush through it.
Depending on your ticket and what is operating on the day of your visit, you can divide your time between the water park and other attractions around Hon Thom.
Have lunch on the island and leave enough time to change and make your way back to the cable-car station.
Don't try to squeeze too much into the day
A common mistake is trying to combine Hon Thom, Aquatopia, additional island-hopping, snorkelling and all of Sunset Town into a single day.
It's possible to make your itinerary so packed that you spend the entire day watching the clock.
If you only have one day, Hon Thom + Aquatopia + Sunset Town is already a very full experience.
4:00 PM — 4:00 PM — Cable Car Back to Sunset Town
Take the cable car back toward Sunset Town in the afternoon.
After several hours walking around in the tropical heat — and potentially spending half the day swimming and riding water slides — this is the point where most people are ready for a break.
Rather than going straight into another attraction, build some downtime into the itinerary.
And conveniently, there's a spa just minutes away.

4:30 PM — Massage, Shampoo & Shower at Oasis Spa
After a full day at Hon Thom and Aquatopia Water Park, this is the perfect time to relax and freshen up before spending the evening in Sunset Town.
OASIS Spa Massage & Nail is especially convenient because it is located at 30 Amalfi, directly opposite the Hon Thom Cable Car station and only around a one-minute walk away.
So, instead of returning to your hotel after Sun World, you can step off the cable car, walk across to Oasis and turn the next hour or two into the relaxing part of your Sunset Town itinerary.

Don't Want a Massage? Try the Shampoo Treatment
One service that's particularly well suited to a Hon Thom + Sunset Town day trip is Oasis Spa's shampoo treatment.
After spending hours under the Phu Quoc sun or swimming at Aquatopia, you can have your hair and scalp properly cleansed while enjoying a relaxing scalp, head and neck massage.
The 60-minute-and-above shampoo treatments also include face washing, a facial mask and face massage. Treatments of 90 minutes and above additionally include hand and leg massage.
It's a great alternative if you don't feel like having a full-body massage but still want to wash your hair, relax and freshen up before sunset.
Shower and Freshen Up Before Kiss Bridge
One of the biggest advantages of stopping at Oasis after Hon Thom is the ability to shower before continuing your evening.

6:00 PM — Watch the Sunset at Kiss Bridge
Feeling refreshed, head back toward the waterfront and Kiss Bridge.
This is the time when Sunset Town earns its name.
Kiss Bridge stretches dramatically over the sea and has become one of Phu Quoc's most recognisable landmarks.
The bridge is deliberately unusual: its two sections approach one another without actually touching, leaving a small gap between them.
Come around golden hour rather than waiting until it's completely dark.
You'll have time to take photos while the light changes and then watch the sun disappear over the Gulf of Thailand.
Allow: 45–60 minutes.
7:00 PM — Dinner in Sunset Town
After sunset, stay in Sunset Town for dinner rather than heading elsewhere on the island.
This keeps the itinerary easy and means you won't have to worry about returning in time for the evening entertainment.
There are restaurants and cafés throughout the town, so you can choose according to your budget and preference — from casual Vietnamese food to seafood and international options.
After a full day of swimming, walking and exploring, this is also a good opportunity to slow things down.
Tip: Avoid eating at the night market area, prices are steeper while quality is average. Instead head towards the row of restaurants to the left of La Festa, near King of the Sun Fountain.
8:00 PM Onwards — Experience Sunset Town at Night
Don't leave immediately after sunset.
Sunset Town becomes an entirely different destination once the lights come on.
The Mediterranean-style buildings illuminate, restaurants become busier and the waterfront transforms into an entertainment district.
Depending on the current performance schedule and your tickets, you can finish the evening with one of Sunset Town's multimedia or live entertainment experiences.
Schedules and show offerings can change, so check the official timetable when planning your visit rather than building your day around an old schedule.
It's a spectacular way to finish a day that began above the ocean on the Hon Thom Cable Car.
